Pack a Lunch!

Pack a lunch. If you purchase your lunch each day chances are, it is not very healthy and if it is…it is costing you a pretty penny. Think about it – avg $10/day for lunch, where if you made it at home it might cost about $3 or even better if you brought leftovers – cost $1. This can add up very quickly $7 savings per day ($10 - $3) times 5 days/wk = $35 x 4 wks /month = $140 per month just for lunch!

Gas Prices are Soaring!!

Walk! These day gas prices are skyrocketing. This is sort of a hidden expense as we don’t think about that quick trip to the store, or the quick trip to school back and forth everyday as costing much money. Trust me – these little trips add up quickly and are a direct cost to you each time. Walk your kids to school everyday, walk to the store that’s just a couple blocks away to pick up the milk. This will save you money and has the added bonus of taking off those inches too!

Stay out of the Mall!

Stay out of the Mall!! A lot of people use the mall as a past time. Once you are there it is way too tempting to purchase things, especially if they are on sale. This is what vendors want to happen. Stay out of the mall and the temptation is not there.

Planning Meals Ahead

elaine said...

here's a thought plan your meals ahead and then make a grocery list of the items you don't already have. You can end up with a real system.... see what is on sale that week........ plan the weeks menus using as much of the big price sale items as possible.........check what you have on hand.....buy whats left ... you will always save money. when you are hungry for something put it on a want to have list and when the main ing. come on sale that's when you have it.

Eat before you Shop

Eat before you go grocery shopping. So many people head to the grocery store hungry…bad idea! When we are hungry we tend to buy everything in site that might satisfy our cravings. Eat first and it will help you stick to your list and your needs.

Coupons

Read all flyers and cut coupons. You might be in the habit of going to your same grocery store week after week, but this could be costing you. Read all the flyers that come to your door and check out all the deals, set a list and plan of where you will purchase these items. Also check out on-line coupons for common items you buy week after week – ie) diapers, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, etc.

Post some good coupon links in my comments!!

Groceries

Look for discounts on meat in your grocery store and freeze. This a great way
to save money as meat is expensive, but freezes and unfreezes easily and
still gives Quality taste.
